Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for doubts to be raised about his position following another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the team's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points of course but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I feel the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar failings from his squad in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a period of this nature with results like these.”

He finished, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
