In a bizarre crossover event that breaks conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free additional story content for Shadows players.
According to the formal announcement, "An unusual meeting pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where hints of banned practices and fearsome changes echo through the shadows." The plot presents a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden sect.
The mission centers on "bizarre trials and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a striking scene showing a character, likely the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

This patch also introduces the game's third complimentary story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature abilities: Naoe reveals a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
This represents scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime series. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that unmistakably referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
