Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then located numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; officials are presently not informed of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.
A senior political figure said the attack rendered him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
