New information has come to light regarding the shocking deaths of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.
As detailed in an account quoting a confidential source, a practitioner arriving for an appointment first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the residence. The therapist then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
Upon entering the home, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, including the charge related to a weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently detained without bail.
The anonymous source questioned several earlier details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.
Additionally disputed widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's conduct in recent weeks. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction also extends to accounts of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports suggested the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the residence. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
