Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
